Vote for Leadership That Serves, Not Politics That Divides
Johannesburg stands at a crossroads. On 4 November, residents have an opportunity to demand ethical leadership, competent government and an end to corruption, political instability and failing services. The Joburg Crisis Alliance urges every eligible voter to vote thoughtfully, reject intimidation and judge candidates on their track records and ability to deliver. Residents must remain active, monitor government and demand accountability throughout the next five years. Your vote. Your city. Your future.
STATEMENT SUMMARY
The Joburg Crisis Alliance (JCA) calls on all eligible Johannesburg residents to vote on 4 November 2026 and make informed choices that will help rescue the city from years of political instability, financial mismanagement, corruption and deteriorating municipal services.
Johannesburg faces a deepening crisis marked by unreliable water and electricity supplies, collapsing infrastructure, failing public services and widening inequality. The elections offer residents an opportunity to demand ethical, competent and accountable leadership.
The JCA urges voters to look beyond party loyalties, personalities and political slogans, and assess candidates on their integrity, competence, track records and commitment to rebuilding Johannesburg.
The Alliance calls for peaceful, free and fair elections, without intimidation or violence. With coalition government likely, political parties must prioritise residents' interests, publish clear coalition agreements and establish mechanisms to prevent political instability.
The incoming Council must urgently restore financial discipline, improve revenue collection, eliminate wasteful expenditure, tackle corruption and prioritise infrastructure maintenance and essential services. Senior municipal appointments must be based on merit rather than political affiliation.
The JCA emphasises that rebuilding Johannesburg requires sustained public participation beyond election day. Residents, businesses, community organisations and civil society must actively monitor municipal performance, budgets and expenditure, and hold elected representatives accountable throughout the 2026–2031 term.
The JCA remains non-partisan and committed to ethical governance, transparency and active citizenship.
On 4 November, make your vote count. From 5 November, make your voice count.
