Joburg Crisis Alliance to Launch Civic Saturdays Campaign in Noordgesig, Soweto

Joburg Crisis Alliance Sparks Community Action with New Campaign

The Joburg Crisis Alliance kicks off its Civic Saturdays Campaign on 24 May in Noordgesig, Soweto — uniting residents through clean-ups, mural painting, and community history. It’s a call to action: let’s fix Joburg together, one Saturday at a time.

The Joburg Crisis Alliance (JCA) will launch its Civic Saturdays Campaign on 24 May 2025 at the Noordgesig Community Centre in Soweto.

This new initiative aims to promote active citizenship, local accountability, and grassroots action in response to Johannesburg’s ongoing governance and service delivery challenges. Activities at the launch will include mural painting, clean-ups, and comunity history session.

The campaign encourages community involvement in local structures and seeks to foster collective responsibility under the theme: “Working Together to Save Joburg, Build Stronger Communities, and Reimagine the City.” Civic Saturdays forms part of JCA’s broader Civic Activism campaign. The campiagn will call on communities to organise their own Civic Saturday activties and to share these via the JCA website.

The launch will be held at the Noordgesig Plaza from 09h00 - 12h00

Join the movement for a better Joburg.
